David was born Monday, March 30, 1970, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada, to Gerald L. Carroll and Diane (Purgett) Bogenrief.

He grew up and attended school in International Falls, Minn., graduating in 1988.

In 1993 he moved to Sioux City.

He later met Andrea Beaubien and the couple wed on Aug. 28, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix.

He worked for Philips Kiln in South Sioux City, Neb., as a “kiln doctor” (welder). David was a hard worker and well thought of by his co-workers.

On June 27, David professed his faith, was welcomed into the Catholic Church, and received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, Eucharist and Anointing with his family by his side. He was very proud to be a part of his sister’s baptism on that same day. He stated later that night, “It was a beautiful day.”

David loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, swimming, golfing, riding his Harley.

He enjoyed sitting around having a “Bud” with his buds watching the Stanley Cup, the Vikings, NASCAR, and his DVD concerts.

David was easy going and laid back, and a selfless provider to his family. He lived his life just like his favorite song, “Simple Man.”

Surviving are his wife, Andrea, son, Shey Swenson, and daughter, Josey Carroll, all of Sioux City, Iowa; father, Gerald (Jacqueline) Carroll of International Falls, Minn.; mother, Diane (Dennis) Bogenrief of Sioux City; sister, Laurie Carroll of International Falls, Minn.; mother in-law, Juanita Beaubien of Correctionville; brother-in-law, Bryan Beaubien of Correctionville; four sisters-in-law, Jaimee Beaubien of Sioux City, Elaine Hansen of Sioux City, Angela and Tom Kayl of Lawton, and Holly Beaubien of Sioux City; seven nieces and nephews, Brennan Carroll, Sara Bliss, Brady Wicklund, Tristen and Alexandra Kayl, Beau Beaubien and Kennedy, who is still on the way.

Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in Siouxland, Utah, Minnesota, and Canada.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorthea and Charles Purgett; paternal grandfather, Conrad Carroll; paternal grandparents, William and Norma Wreggitt; uncle, Thomas Carroll; aunt, Cheryl Lynn Purgett; and father-in-law, Vincent Beaubien.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dana and Patsy Clemmons and Kathy Jo Mitchell for all their love and support.

The family also request prayers for the individuals and their families who are fighting or have lost their battle with cancer.
