Kyle Dean Olestad, 56, of International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Kyle was born Aug. 21, 1956, at International Falls, and was a lifelong resident.

He graduated from Falls High School in the Class of 1974. He attended Rainy River Community College, and worked for Boise Cascade for 29 years and was a paper machine supervisor. He was currently working for Ashland Hercules, Inc. since 2005.

Kyle married Colleen Smart on New Year’s Eve in 1990 at Internatonal Falls.

He loved hunting, fishing, being on the lake, curling, and golfing.

He played hockey most of his life, during high school, Rainy River Community College, and Senior League, playing for Corrin’s Kings.

Kyle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He always had time for everyone and was ready to help out.

He was very proud of his son, Tyler, and he loved life.

He was a member of Falls Country Club, and he loved his pets.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin “Kerby” Olestad; and nephew, Chase Johnson.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Colleen Olestad of International Falls; mother, Arlene Olestad of Littlefork; son, Tyler of International Falls; nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Mateo), Josh, Chad, Barb, Jeff, Mark and Tristan; sisters, Janine (Steven) Smith of Crown Point, Ind., Lorri (Jimmy) Scroggins of Moore, Okla., and Kristine (Craig) Johnson of International Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 10 a.m. memorial service Friday, June 21, at First Lutheran Church.
