The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm, Minn., was the setting of the Oct. 30, 2010, afternoon wedding ceremony uniting Joseph William Veeder and Ashley Ann Brandel. Fr. Mark Steffl presided at the double-ring Nuptial Mass.

Joseph is the son of Jeffrey and Margaret Veeder of International Falls, and a 2005 graduate of Falls High School. He graduated from St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn.

Ashley is the daughter of Peter and Sharon Brandel of New Ulm. She is a graduate of Cathedral High School of New Ulm, and the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, Minn.

The bride appeared on the arm of her father in a white satin gown. The dress she selected had a sweetheart neckline and a shirred beaded bodice cascading to a chapel-length train with a pearl broach detail. Ashley’s fingertip-length veil was edged in lace, and she carried a gathered bouquet of autumn red and blush-colored roses.

She wore a necklace of matched ivory pearls and pearl earrings, both gifts of the groom.

Joe was attired in a black tuxedo with a white shirt, tie and vest.

The groomsmen and fathers of the bride and groom all wore black tuxes with wine-colored vests and ties and black vests and ties, respectively.

Jacob Veeder, of Browntown, Wis., served as his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Tim Meer of Plymouth, Minn., and Derek Clark, of Grand Forks, N.D., both originally of International Falls, and Brett Kneuven, of Austin, Minn., all friends of the groom.

Ushers were Ryan Weier, of New Ulm, brother-in-law of the bride, and Brandon Baker, of Minneapolis, Minn., a friend of the groom.

Ashley’s sisters’ Andrea Weier and Jessica Brandel, both of New Ulm, were chosen as the matron of honor and maid of honor, respectively.

Bridesmaids were Gretchen Domeier and Laura Schwarz, both of New Ulm, friends of the bride.

The bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns in wine satin in a style which complemented the bride’s dress, and they carried bouquets of flowers in shades of ivory, blush, burgundy and sage.

The mother of the bride chose a full-length beaded gown in black and silver, with a jacket, accented by a rose corsage.

The mother of the groom selected a topaz dress and beaded-applique jacket, also with a rose corsage.

Ashley’s aunt, Anita Hoffmann, and cousin, Angela Nagel, of New Ulm, were soloists for the Mass. Pianist was Jody Hagen, of New Ulm. Musical selections included “Ave Maria,” “Canon in D” and “Trumpet Voluntary.”

The bride’s personal attendants were Samantha Heintzelman, of Breckenridge, MN, and Lauren Windschitl, of New Ulm, both friends of the bride. Jeanne Anderson, of Apple Valley, Minn., aunt and godmother of the groom, and Amanda Veeder, Browntown, Wis., sister-in-law of the groom, were readers. Greeters were Jonathan and Angela Wuerger, of Algonquin, Ill., cousins of the groom. Sienna and Claire Preuss, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., cousins of the groom, carried the gifts. Kelsey Gulden and Emily Gulden, of New Ulm, cousins of the bride, attended the guest book.

Coach buses transported many of the guests to a dinner and dance at St. George Church Hall, St. George, Minn., following the ceremony. The reception hall and tables were accented with more than 700 assorted gourds and pumpkins, all grown by family and friends of the bride, and votives edged in wine ribbon.

Following a wine toast, guests were served a dinner of roast pork and meatballs and all of the trimmings. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, hot apple cider, and a selection of locally-brewed beers completed the harvest theme.

The wedding party enjoyed a rehearsal dinner Oct. 29 at George’s Fine Steaks and Spirits in New Ulm.

Following a wedding trip to Miami, Key West, and the Bahamas, Joe and Ashley are at home in Austin, Minn.
