Couple exchange vows on ‘The Floating Chapel on the Bay’

Bonne Louise (Mastin) Thorpe and Dennis Keith Rodriguez, of Venice, Fla., were united in marriage Saturday, June 11, 2011, on ‘The Floating Chapel on the Bay’, Sarasota, Fla.

Capt. Orca Fisher performed the 4 p.m. ceremony at anchor in Sarasota Bay aboard ‘The Floating Chapel on the Bay.’

The bride and groom celebrated their union before friends and family with a symbolic sand ceremony along with a special hands ritual. An on-board champagne toast followed.

The bride is the daughter of the late Kayo and the late Lavina (St. Peter) Mastin, of International Falls, Minn.

The groom is the son of Jay and Rose Rodriguez, of Fresno, Calif.

The bride was given away by her nephew, John Muggli Jr., of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Serving as the bride’s matron of honor was her cousin, Cheryl Rogoza, of International Falls, Minn. Bridesmaids were her daughter, Brittany Jolcover, Jo Rushlow and Lisa Miller, of Venice, Fla.

Personal attendant was wedding planner, Christy, of Venice, Fla.

Flower girls were great-niece of the bride, Abigail Muggli, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and bridesmaid Jo Rushlow’s daughter, Emma Rushlow.

Best man was Sal Denoto, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and groomsmen were nephew of the bride, Jason Mastin, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and friends Tony Ramirez and Mike Robarge, of Venice, Fla.

Ringbearer was bridesmaid Lisa Miller’s son, Alex Miller, of Venice, Fla.

A dinner and dance reception followed at the Great Room at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota, Fla.

The newlyweds stayed at The Don Cesar Resort Hotel, St. Pete Beach, Fla., then boarded The Carnival Legend for a seven-day Western Caribbean honeymoon cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan Island and Grand Cayman Island.

The bride is a graduate of Falls High School and Apollo College, Phoenix, Ariz. She is a Security Specialist at ADT Security.

The groom is a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School, Fresno, Calif., and Trident Technical College, Charleston, S.C. He is a Lead Environmental Technician with the City of Venice.

The couple resides in Venice, Fla.
