On Sunday, June 8, 2008, Kendra Sarah Goetz, formerly of International Falls, and Shaun Michael Lotter, of Springfield, Mo., exchanged vows in holy matrimony before 150 guests. The couple was married at 3 in the afternoon at Wellington Place, downtown Springfield. Wellington serves as a banquet/reception hall.
Goetz threw in a twist at the beginning of the ceremony with four of Goetz’s basketball players passing balls back and forth coming out to the song “We’re playin’ basketball.” (Goetz played basketball, volleyball, and ran track for Falls High School in 1994-97 as well as Bemidji High School 1997-99. Then went to play ball for Evangel University in Springfield. Since college she has coached high school and middle school basketball in Springfield).
The ceremony then went back to the traditional “Cannon in D” in which Trudy Stall, grandmother of the bride, was escorted out followed by Jutta Goetz, mother of the bride, and Dorothea Lotter, mother of the groom, with father of the groom, Kenneth Lotter, behind the mothers.
Bridesmaids included maid of honor Kelley White, Kendra’s college roommate, and Kendra’s four sisters — Vanessa Goetz, Amber Lewis, Carmen Morehead and Tanja Corrington — the three latter all graduates of Falls High School.
The bridesmaids wore pool blue halter tea-length dresses and carried a bouquet of Gerber Daisies.
Groomsmen included best man Chris Hurst, friend of the groom, Shaun’s two brothers, Brandon Lotter and Kevin Lotter, as well as two other friends, Todd Katter and Luke Shaw.
The flower girl was Goetz’s niece, Hannah Corrington, and the ring bearer was Goetz’s nephew, Benjamin Lewis.
The couple will be in Bemidji on Saturday, July 12. An open house reception will be hosted from 2 to 6 p.m. at the bride’s parents home at 3280 Greenbriar Lane NE, Bemidji. For directions, call 218-759-0902.
