Peter and Cheryl Douglas

Cheryl Jean Knutson, daughter of Robert and Helen Knutson, and Peter Joseph Douglas, son of the late Robert N. and Wanda Douglas, became husband and wife Sept. 12, 2012, in an intimate ceremony officiated by Jaci Piekarski, friend of both the bride and the groom.

Rick and Robbie Leerssen witnessed the exchanging of vows with Cheryl’s parents in attendance.

Both are 1970 graduates of Falls High School.

Peter is a graduate of Mesabi-UMD Community College with a law enforcement degree. He is also a graduate of the Police Skills Academy in Hibbing, Minn., and the Federal Law Enforcement Academy in Glynco, Ga. He spent 23 years in law enforcement and was a certified field training officer. He is currently retired from 23 years in law enforcement.

Cheryl received a bachelor of science degree from St. Cloud State University with majors in elementary education and mass communication. She continued her education with a masters in special education degree from Bethel University where she graduated cum laude. Cheryl is semi-retired and employed by Independent School District 361 in International Falls, Minn.

The couple resides in Ranier, Minn., and will be honeymooning with the Leerssen’s in Cancun this February.
