Miriam Landmark and Christopher Vakulskas were married Aug. 9, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating.
Miriam is the granddaughter of Minnie Landmark and the late James B. Landmark, and the late Don and Marilee Gawtry of International Falls.
Parents of the couple are James and Martha Landmark of Marshalltown, and Michael and Lynette Vakulskas of Davenport, Iowa.
Organist Carol Conrad accompanied soloist Amber Duimstra who sang “Ave Maria,” “The Prayer,” and “From This Moment.” Scripture reader was Jesse Gomez.
The bride wore a strapless ivory satin gown with a smooth bodice, multiple pick-up skirt, corset tie back, and chapel length train. The waist was embellished with a cummerbund attached to a layered sash down the back of the skirt in ivory and champagne satin with beaded embroidery accents. Her veil was cathedral length.
Matron of honor was Marja Byekirova, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Chelsea Yates, Lindsey Heiserman and Michelle Kaplan, friends of the bride. They wore black satin short dresses in varying styles.
The flower girl was Grace Cabrera, cousin of the bride, whose ivory satin gown matched the bride’s, with a pick-up skirt design and black satin sash.
Personal attendant was Jessy Cowart, friend of the bride.
Best man was Todd Vakulskas, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Nathan Teed, Zachary Monahan, Matthew Stearns and Jesse Gomez, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Cory Jens, friend of the groom, and William Landmark, cousin of the bride.
Ring bearer was Aaron Cameron, cousin of the bride, who wore a black tuxedo and champagne vest and tie which matched the groom’s and groomsmen’s attire.
A reception followed at The Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes, Iowa. Attending the guestbook were Christa and Kirsten Landmark, cousins of the bride.
Miriam graduated from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 2006, and is employed by M.C. Ginsberg Jewelers in Iowa City, specializing in custom jewelry design.
Chris is a 2005 graduate of the University of Iowa, and is in his last year as a doctoral student in the microbiology department there.
Following a honeymoon to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple is at home in Coralville, Iowa.
