A regular meeting of the City Council of International Falls, Minnesota, was held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on the 4th day of June 2012 at the hour of 5:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilors Eklund, Jaksa, McBride, Rognerud and Mayor Mason
MEMBERS ABSENT: none
Motion by Councilor McBride to approve minutes of the regular city council meeting of May 21, 2012. Motion seconded by Councilor Jaksa and carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilor Jaksa to approve transfer of Lodging Tax in the amount of $271.89 to Fund 101. Motion seconded by Councilor Eklund and carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilor Eklund to approve payment of the claims from various funds of the city including checks 45639-45746 in the amount of $189,719.31. Motion seconded by Councilor Rognerud and carried unanimously.
Checks 96906-96917 were issued under blanket authorization in the amount of $66,564.60.
Building Official Meyers reported that demolitions have begun for the season with several garages already demolished. He noted that the city is reducing from 10 days to 5 days the notice for certain blight violations based upon feedback from the public.
Motion by Councilor Jaksa to approve first reading of the revised Ordinance No. 7, 5th Series amending Section 6-44 “Dwelling unit rental license”. Motion seconded by Councilor Eklund. City Attorney Shermoen described the revisions made to the proposed ordinance. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilor Eklund described the negotiations with the 49ers and the contract agreed to by the parties. City Attorney Shermoen stated some minor revisions were approved by the parties and would be incorporated in the final document. Motion by Councilor Eklund to approve contract. Motion seconded by Councilor Jaksa and carried unanimously.
Motion by Councilor Eklund to adopt Resolution #17-12 approving raffle permit for Elk’s Lodge 1599 with drawing to be held on August 17, 2012. Motion seconded by Councilor Jaksa and carried unanimously.
