SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION – ISD #361

INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MINNESOTA

Monday, June 11, 2012 – 5:00 p.m.

Falls High School Library

1.    CALL MEETING TO ORDER:

 Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Stuart Nordquist at 5:00 p.m.  

2.    ROLL CALL:

Members present were Michelle Hebner, Will Kostiuk, Mark Lassila,  Stuart Nordquist,  Darrell Wagner and Dena Wenberg.  Also present was Superintendent Jeff Peura.

Media Present:  The Journal,   KGHS-KSDM Radio Station

3.    PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

4.    APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Moved by w. Kostiuk, seconded by D. Wenberg to  approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote.

5.    PERSONNEL

5.1. SUPERINTENDENT POSITION

Moved by D. Wagner, seconded by W. Kostiuk to authorize the Administrative Salary Committee to negotiate a contract with  Nordy Nelson for the position of Superintendent.   Motion carried by a unanimous vote.

5.2 ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL POSITION

Moved by D. Wenberg, seconded by W. Kostiuk to approve the hire of Kristine Lamb as FES/WEE Elementary Principal effective July 1, 2012.  

Motion failed due to a tie vote with members W. Kostiuk, S. Nordquist and D. Wenberg voting in favor and members M. Hebner, M. Lassila and D. Wagner voting against.

Moved by M. Lassila, seconded by D. Wagner to approve the hire of Kevin Grover as FES/WEE Elementary Principal effective July 1, 2012.  

Motion failed due to a tie vote with members M. Hebner, M. Lassila and D. Wagner voting in favor and members W. Kostiuk, S. Nordquist and D. Wenberg voting against.

Moved by M. Hebner, seconded by D. Wagner to approve the hire of Andy Fougner as FES/WEE Elementary Principal effective July 1, 2012.  

Motion failed due to a tie vote with members M. Hebner, M. Lassila and D. Wagner voting in favor and members W. Kostiuk, S. Nordquist and D. Wenberg voting against.

Chairperson S. Nordquist called for a five minute recess.

Moved by W. Kostiuk, seconded by D. Wenberg to conduct a second interview with candidates Kristine Lamb, Kevin Grover and Andy Fougner and utilize the same interview committee members.  Motion carried by a unanimous vote.

6.    ADJOURNMENT

Moved by M. Hebner, seconded by D. Wagner to  adjourn the meeting at 5:15 p.m.  Motion  carried by a unanimous vote.
