Donald Wells Treat, 93, Littlefork, Minn., died Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Staples, Minn.
He was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Big Falls, Minn., to Roe and Ella Treat.
Don graduated from Big Falls High School in 1944.
He served in the military from 1944 to 1946, and he was a member of the American Legion.
He and Eva Raberge were married after his return to Big Falls from his military service in 1946.
Don enjoyed his many years of driving truck for local loggers. He also drove truck on the Alaskan Pipeline for several years, and he loved relating stories about those times.
He was a champion of the underdog and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He was well known for his quick wit and his love of a good joke or a prank.
Don was predeceased by his wife, Eva; his parents; his brothers, Vernon and Clifford Treat; and his sisters, Ruby Gustafson and Irene Donner.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Calvin Olson; granddaughter and husband, Kimberly and Trent Wimmer; granddaughter and husband, Gretchen and Adam Ahlstrom; and great-grandchildren, Anissa and Carson Wimmer and Liam and Amelia Ahlstrom.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Littlefork Medical Center for the loving and attentive care given to him these past few years.
A family service will be planned for a later date.
