Earl Ernest Wicklund, 85

Earl Ernest Wicklund, 85, of International Falls, Minn., died Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2017, at Essentia Health–St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, Minn.

Earl was born April 21, 1932, in Kensington, Minn., to parents Ernest and Edna (Bergquist) Wicklund.

Earl attended Oscar Lake Country School in Farwell, Minn.

He married Shirley Pinc on March 3, 1955, in Mason City, Iowa, and made their home in International Falls.

Earl was an MP at Fort Sill, Okla., while serving in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

He worked for DWP Railroad until his retirement. Prior to working at the railroad, he bartended at the American Legion and played in a country band on weekends.

Earl loved gardening, playing music, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends, and watching his favorite sports team, the Minnesota Twins.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Shirley Wicklund; parents, Edna and Ernest; and his siblings, Ferdinand, Joyce and James.

Earl is survived by his daughters, Jeanne George, Chris Oustad (Norm), Ann Tomczak (Chas Phillips) and Sarah Becvar (Rick), all of International Falls; grandchildren, Aaron Wicklund (Crystal), Ryan Wicklund (Lisa), Taj Larson (Marsha), Krystl Larson, Nate Oustad (Malory), Zach Tomczak, Cassie Tomczak, Colten Tomczak, Chase Phillips, Caden Phillips, Briauna Becvar and Trevor Becvar; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Klemetsen (Megan), Danny Patch (Esmeralda), Danica Klemetsen, Rylee Wicklund, Easton Wicklund, Mariah Gerard, Tyler Gerard, Zayne Larson, Gydion Larson, Vayda Larson, Aurora Larson, Brady Wicklund, Jude Oustad and Roman Oustad; great-great-grandchildren, Delilah Strand and Emmersyn Patch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Zion Lutheran Church.

A private interment will be in Oscar Lake Cemetery, Farwell, at a later date.
