Irene Coran

Irene Delilah Coran, age 65, of Carver, Minn., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from an auto accident in Chaska, Minn.

Irene was born April 4, 1952, in International Falls, Minn., to Fred and Josephine (Mastrodomenico) Coran.

She was the youngest of five children.

A 1970 graduate of Falls High School, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in medical technology and worked for the next 45 years in hospital labs and then in medical device research.

She was an inspiration for the way she tackled all adverse events in her life, moved on, and adjusted to the present.

On Sept. 18, 1982, she married Bruce Bernu.

They had one daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Bernu; and parents, Fred and Josephine Coran.

She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Carmen Bernu of Carver; sisters, Regina (Gerald) Yaritz of Hudson, Wis., Percy (Al) Eld of McGregor, Minn., and Rita (Bruce) Potthoff of Blaine, Minn.; brother, James Coran of International Falls; sister-in-law, Brenda Bernu-Reheem of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation is planned for 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, followed by a memorial service at noon, at Snyder Auditorium at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

In lieu of flowers, please give to the organizations she supported, the MS Society of MN, MN Landscape Arboretum or the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
