It is with great sadness that the family of JoAnn Sather announces her passing Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Littlefork Care Center, Littlefork, Minn.
JoAnn was born Nov. 17, 1936, to Lester and Pearl Loop in Pelican Rapids, Minn.
Mom grew up on a farm in Dent, Minn. Here she learned to do chores on the farm. At age 8, Mom started to drive tractor and plow the fields. She would help her dad carry milk cans to the pump house at age 10.
Mom went to a country school until the age of 13. She then went to one year of high school in Underwood, Minn.
Her family then moved to International Falls, Minn., when she was 15, where she graduated from Falls High School in 1954.
JoAnn married James Sather on Aug. 4, 1956.
She and Jim had two children, Ronald and Rita.
Mom worked at Rig-Jig Tackle in the 1970s for five years. When Dad passed away, Mom went to work at the Falls Nursing Home in the laundry department until her retirement in 1996.
After retirement, Mom spent many hours knitting her famous slippers that everyone enjoyed wearing in the cold winters of northern Minnesota.
JoAnn has four grandchildren, Katie (Dan), Bryan, Billy and Melissa.
JoAnn leaves behind her two children, Ronald (Kathy) Sather and Rita (Bill) Shine; grandchildren; brothers, DuWayne (Virginia), John (Janet) and Gary (Betsy); sisters, Marcella and Mary (John); brother-in-law, Mike (Patti); her Aunt Lucy and Aunt Thelma; and many nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Pearl; her mother- and father-in-law, Clifford and Tresse; husband, Jim; brother, Leslie; and brother-in-law, Fred.
Private funeral services have taken place.
Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, International Falls.
