“Peggy” Mary M. Fults, age 69, passed away at her home in Indus, Minn., surrounded by her family on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018.
She was born Aug. 10, 1949, in Littlefork, Minn., to Orman and Edna (Kaufman) Effertz.
Peggy grew up in International Falls, Minn., and was a 1967 graduate of Falls High School.
In 1973 she married her first husband, Jim Olson, with whom she had three children, Christopher, Dara and Lisa.
Peggy worked for the Koochiching County Health Department as a home health aide and secretary for 29 years and retired in 2011.
She also took in foster children, did volunteer driving for the county, and served as an emergency medical technician for the Littlefork Ambulance Service for seven years.
After her retirement from the county she continued to help others by volunteering part-time at Burntside Consultants.
On Jan. 16, 1988, at the Southern Baptist Church in International Falls, Peggy married Joseph M. Fults who had two children of his own, Matthew and Ruth.
Peggy and Joe raised five children together and enjoyed nearly 31 years of marriage filled with laughter, friendship, adventures, and love.
Peggy enjoyed making things. If you gave her some land, she could make a garden to feed the people she loved. If you gave her cloth, she could make a beautiful quilt to keep them warm. If you gave her a house, she could make it a home. There was always room for one more at her table and in her home.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Fults; her children — Chris (Val) Olson of Longview, Wash., Matt Fults of Farmington, Minn., Ruth Fults of Veseli, Minn., Dara (Vinnie) Grashorn of International Falls, and Lisa (Mark) Showers of Wanamingo, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Gene) Bogenrief of Rockford, Ill.; and her lifelong friend, Charlie Taylor of Thousand Palms, Calif.
