Virginia Arnold

Virginia Isabelle Arnold, 82, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Rainy Lake Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in International Falls on June 21, 1935, to Helen and Fred Koch and remained a lifelong resident of the area.

She grew up near Second Bridge with her family and spent her summer days diving off the docks and swimming in the river.

When she was about 10 years old, her family moved out to a farm on the end of the Lindstrom Road where they raised cattle.

Virginia met her future husband in school and on May 29, 1954, she married Floyd Arnold and they had four children.

Over the years, Virginia worked as a bank teller and a waitress but what she enjoyed most was caring for her family.

She loved having her children and grandchildren out to visit so she could cook them her favorite dishes, play cards, and put together puzzles.

Her flower beds were full of colorful plants and hummingbirds.

When given the chance, she loved to spend the day on Kabetogama or Rainy Lake catching walleyes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, Floyd Arnold; parents, Helen (Parker) Koch, Fred Koch, and stepmother, Cleo Koch; and brother, Fred (Bob) Koch.

Virginia is survived by daughter, Linda (Harold); sons, Alan (Tammy), John and Pat (Lesa); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Larson and Christine McCann; stepsister, Barb Horvath; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering and luncheon in celebration of Virginia’s life will be conducted from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the home of Alan and Tammy Arnold, 2277 County Road 109, International Falls.

If desired, in memoriam donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
