Koochiching County commissioners Tuesday are scheduled to give an update on closing public access to land owned by Molpus Woodlands Group.

The county board meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the courthouse boardroom. An agenda is considered tentative until the government body begins the meeting and makes additions or deletions to the proposed agenda.

The board is scheduled to give the land update at 11:30 a.m. when Craig Halla, Molpus Minnesota property manager, will present an update. Snowmobilers, hunters, anglers and others who use the land could have access blocked if the company moves forward with closing gates, a move they are considering because of a loss in tax incentive.

The item follows an 11 a.m. review of the hunting and walking trail designation with Craig Engwall, director of the Department of Natural Resources northeast region.

Also on the agenda are items to reappoint the county assessor, approve a treasurer joint powers agreement between the state and county, approve a wind damage timber harvest policy, and set the 2013 timber auction dates.
