Monday crash report

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Neil Dickenson, NE Region public information officer, has compiled information about driving conditions on state highways from 2 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. Monday. The Northeast Region includes the Duluth, Virginia and Brainerd districts.

He reports:

  • The NE the Duluth district responded to 19 crashes and 29 total vehicles off the road.
  • The Brainerd district responded to 4 crashes and 26 vehicles off the road.
  • The Virginia district responded to 3 crashes and 5 vehicles off the road.

"When it snows and the roads become slippery, I want to remind all drivers to reduce their speeds, wear your seatbelt and make sure to turn on your headlights," said Dickenson in an email to news outlets. "This will help reduce your chances in being involved in a crash."

EDA PUBLIC HEARING RESCHEDULED

A public hearing of the International Falls Economic Development Authority scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday is being rescheduled for a later date in December. The public hearing is regarding Mariner Farms LLC’s draft development agreement and desire to purchase land in the multimodal district.

REFLECT AND REFRESH

The public is welcome to Reflect and Refresh – Walk the Labyrinth at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The labyrinth being used was painted by youth in juvenile detention. It was funded by a grant from the Episcopal Church in Minnesota and loaned to the community by Trinity Episcopal Church in Hermantown. Times are: 4 to 7 p.m. today; 4 to 7 Thursday; 2 to 4 Saturday; 1 to 3 Sunday; and 5 to 6:30 Dec. 17.

LIBRARY STORYTIME

Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at International Falls Public Library will feature about 30 minutes of holiday stories followed by about 30 minutes of play. For all children prior to entering kindergarten.

CRAFT, BAKE SALE

First Assembly of God will host a craft and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. A specialty coffee station will be featured as well as baked good samples. The public is welcome to attend.

VFW CHRISTMAS PARTY

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948 will host a Christmas party for children and grandchildren of Post and Ladies Auxiliary members beginning at 6 p.m. Monday at the Post Home, 1416 Third Ave. W. Treats and beverages will be served and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus will be featured.

RED HATTITUDE KATS

The Red Hattitude Kats will gather for a Christmas luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the home of MaryNell Gust.

Windows shot out: Reports Sunday said windows had been shot out at the Rambler Motel, 1901 Second Ave. W., and two windows from vehicle at a residence on Third Avenue East with what appears to be pellets from a BB or pellet gun.

Burglary: $300 was reported taken Dec. 4 from a dresser inside the Becca A. Bahr residence, Ninth Avenue West.

Tires slashed: Charges are pending against juveniles in the slashing of tires at two separate locations Dec. 4. All four tires on a vehicle registered to Karen S.R. Bates, Ninth Avenue, were slashed while the vehicle was parked near her residence. All four tires were slashed on a vehicle registered to David W. Maijala, 16th Street East, while parked near his residence.
