SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday is set for Feb. 1 at Faith United Church of Christ. Cans of soup and monetary donations will be collected as part of the worldwide Souper Bowl of Caring project. The soup and funds collected will be directed to Falls Hunger Coalition Food Shelf. A soup luncheon at 11 a.m. will follow the worship service. Free will donations accepted.
‘SOLUTION MONDAY’ RECOVERY MEETINGS
An introduction gathering for a new “All” Recovery Meeting (RA) is planned for 3 p.m. Monday at Backus Community Center. For anyone suffering from any addiction or the effects of any addiction. Everyone is welcome. Beginning Feb. 9, “Solution Monday,” All Recovery Meeting (RA), will meet weekly, at 3 Mondays, at Backus. TOP THE TATER DINNER
A Top the Tater dinner is planned for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Backus Community Center. The $6 per person cost includes baked potato, toppings, salad, dessert and beverage. The dinner precedes Backus Performing Arts Series concert Tonic Sol-fa, a cappella quartet, at 7 in Backus Auditorium. Dinner ticket value packs are available for sale at the door. Snowmobile theft: A snowmobile valued at $1,000 was reported taken from the Raymond Lepage III residence, Ninth Street.

Rollover: A pickup driven by Eric K. Olson, 47, Baudette, traveling westbound, left Highway 11 Wednesday and rolled in the ditch causing non-life threatening injuries to Olson, who was taken to Rainy Lake Medical Center. The report said road conditions were icy.
Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office
Ice rescue: Deputies rescued Dena M. Baldwin, International Falls, from Rainy River Jan. 23 after she got stuck on ice in a kayak while trying to reach a dog. The report said deputies donned rescue suits and one deputy entered the water during the rescue. Both Baldwin and the dog were rescued and brought to shore. No injuries were reported.
Theft: Richard C. Vandrunen reported Jan. 17 the theft of a trailer from his property on Highway 65 near the intersection of County Road 77 in Littlefork. The trailer is a 1997 24-foot Hallmark enclosed trailer valued at $8,000. It is white in color with the lettering “Richard and Family Racing” written along the side in red letters.
Rollover: A semi truck owned by James Kennedy Logging and driven by Travis I. Klemetsen, 25, rolled Jan. 20 at County Road 155 and County Highway 332 causing more than $10,000 damage and losing a load of 100-inch logs.
