COUNTY BOARD CANCELED

The Koochiching County Board of Commissioners meeting set for Tuesday is canceled.

NHED PRESIDENTIAL FORUMS

Rainy River Community College will host the Northeast Higher Education District presidential community open forums Feb. 19 and 24 on campus. Schedule for the public open forum is: Candidate 1, 7:30-8:30 a.m., Feb. 19; Candidate 2, 7:30-8:30 a.m., Feb. 24; and Candidate 3, 3:45-4:45 p.m., Feb. 24.

CITIZENS FOR BACKUS/AB

The Citizens for Backus/AB annual meeting is set for 5 p.m. Thursday at Backus Community Center in the conference room. Refreshments and door prizes will be featured. Members and interested citizens are encouraged to attend.

QUILTERS GUILD

Northern Lights Quilters Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church. Members are asked to bring an old cup/saucer or cup for the monthly project. Also, basic supplies to work on project. String quilt blocks will be collected for the raffle quilt. Show and Tell will be presented.

I Falls Partners in Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Falls Elementary School library. Speaker David Skwarok, Independent School District 361 information technology director, will talk on “What’s New at ISD 361” — What’s new for technology at ISD 361 this year and what’s ahead? Expanded wifi, Public wifi, more iPads and Chromebooks. Skwarok will also cover using Skyward Family Access offered through the district to all families. Learn how to keep up with lunch accounts, homework assignments, attendance, grades, and how to use online payment system.

The Falls Hunger Coalition (Food Shelf) annual meeting is set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the downstairs conference room of the Forestland building, 1000 Fifth St. The public is welcome to attend.

International Falls Fire Department

False alarm: Firefighters checked the Falls Elementary School Wednesday afternoon when an alarm sounded. Department and school officials later said the false alarm may have been caused by equipment malfunction.

Collision: Vehicles driven by Ann. M. Nordstrom, 70, and Darlene C. Ditsch, 57, addresses unavailable, collided Tuesday at Eighth Avenue West and Third Street causing more than $1,000 damage to the vehicles.

Collision: Vehicles driven by David S. Correia, 51, Second Avenue West, and Sharon K. Reuter, 59, Kingsford, Mich., collided Feb. 8 at 10th Avenue West and Seventh Street causing more than $1,000 damage to the vehicles.

Collision: Vehicles driven by Billy D. Hell, 24, Town Road 200, and Micheal S. Revak, Ninth Street, collided at Borderland Auto, Second Avenue West and 22nd Street, causing more than $1,000 damage to the vehicles.

Hit-and-run: Jacqueline L. Lane, 44, County Road 115, reported Monday her vehicle sustained damage to the left rear bumper while parked at Ranier Community Building or Timber Pins, International Falls.
