International Falls Police Department
Arrest: A 32-year-old man was taken into custody, with the assistance of the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, and faces various charges from an incident that occurred on the sidewalk at 1210 Third Ave. W., in the area of Highway 53. The man was in possession of a handgun on the sidewalk and threatened to harm himself, said police. There were no injuries to the officers, suspect, or public, according to the report.
Tampering: Two Canadian residents were cited Tuesday for tampering with a motor vehicle in the alley near 12th Street. They were cited and given a ride to the border, said police.
International Falls Fire Department
Four-wheeler fire: Firefighters spent about 15 minutes Aug. 27 extinguishing a fire on a four-wheel all terrain vehicle. The cause has yet to be determined. No other information was available.

International Falls Rotary Club recently welcomed International District Governor Herbert Schmidt, right, to town to discuss current programs and projects in the community. Pictured with him is local Rotary President David McKee. Rotary District 5580 covers North Dakota, northern Minnesota, eastern Ontario and a portion of northwestern Wisconsin.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reminds motorists that on a road with two or more lanes, drivers must move over one full lane from stopped emergency vehicles that have their flashing lights activated. That includes ambulance, fire, law enforcement, maintenance, construction vehicles and tow trucks. If it is not safe to move over, the driver should slow down.
The Move Over Law is named after State Trooper Ted Foss, who was struck and killed by a passing semitrailer truck while conducting a traffic stop Aug. 31, 2000. The law is intended to keep emergency workers safe, and prevent motorists from crashing into stopped vehicles.
