Margaret C. Sartain

Margaret C. Sartain, formerly of International Falls, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015.

During her nearly 92 years, Margaret was always vibrantly oriented toward life.

She inspired others with her charm, wit, faith, gracious manner and unconditional love.

She faced many tragic losses in her life with courage and hope.

Among her greatest joys were her five children — Carol Peterson (Ron), Pamela Aronson (Terry), Claudia Grotberg (Tim), James Sartain (Dennis Slavin) and Jeffrey Sartain (Mark Sedio); and her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed needlework, volunteering at Augustana Care Center and Apartments, savoring a sweet roll with coffee and being a fun and faithful friend to people of all ages.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, in 1962.

She will be dearly missed by her family, members of her church community and many friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55404.

Visitation one hour prior to service and a luncheon will follow.

If so desired, memorials may be directed to Augustana Care.

Evelyn Rose Bernier, 85

Evelyn Rose Bernier (Hrynyk), age 85, of Minneapolis, Minn., passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, after an illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Nellie; son, Glenn “Butch” Bernier; son-in-law, Bob Forrer; and kitty, “Fatty Boo.”

She will be deeply missed by her children, Janine Forrer, Judy (Jeff) McElwain and Gail Bernier (Eric Chaapel); five grandchildren, Denise, Kim, Jenny, Audrey and Eli; five great-grandchildren, Garrett, Jack, Gretta, Emma and Camryn; and many loving relatives and good friends.

She was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins.

Evelyn was retired from Hennepin County Legal Services and was especially passionate about the Child Protection Unit.

She was a translator for the Ukrainian community.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Evelyn’s life is set for 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in the Fireside Room at Majestic Oaks Golf Club, Blaine, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcomed for her favorite charities, ACT V Rescue or Borderland Humane Society, in Evelyn’s memory.

Her lively spirit, and compassion towards animals and people in need will be missed here on earth, but heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
