What is rain?
In Texas, too much is a pain.
We have some white stuff
But not ENUFF
As you see
For good trails
You need plenty.
Rough trails and very cold
If out just to snowmobile
You have to be bold.
Working and traveling
Is no sweat
Cause at 18 below NOW
No way to get wet.
Things here are not so bleak
When grandson has rosy cheeks.
Cause most of the time abides
In the great outside.
Small Three wheeler is very old
And has sat for years
Motor now barely gets cold
Stories a building yet untold.
His head
Barely knows it hit the pillow
In his cosy bed.
Burning lots of stored carbon
Keeping the cold out
Gaining strength
In handling 14’, 100”, down
To 16” and to some 24” lengths.
Then split and piled,
moved and repiled
Wait to dry a while
Moved to Inside piles
Then the art of burning
Took awhile
But the steady an rosy heat
Makes us smile.
Tho with the ashes I asked spouse
About making soap?
I wouldn’t lye about it
As she said she had enough to do
In this house.
Blessed Sunday coming,
Soon to Church will depart
Remote start
Used to keep motor humming.
Icebox Radio Theater will hold a series of radio drama workshops this winter as part of its ongoing ‘Icebox University’ arts education program.
The centerpiece of the program will be twice-monthly after school workshops for kids. These workshops will be held on alternating Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the IBRT’s Backus Community Center studio. They will cover a variety of subjects from voice acting to sound effects to improvisational story telling. Participants should be proficient readers, and be comfortable reading aloud.
An all-ages workshop will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Icebox Radio Studio. This workshop is intended for anyone interested in trying out voice acting in a radio drama setting. This workshop is an excellent start for people who want to learn about the IBRT, or just voice acting in general.
And for the first time, the IBRT will offer a technical workshop in basic computer audio recording. This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of computer recording and editing using the open source program Audacity. It will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Space in the recording workshop is limited.
