The Rainy River Community College softball team opened its Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division schedule at home Monday with a doubleheader sweep over Northland Community and Technical College.
“We kind of had a strong offensive day,” said RRCC head coach Dieter Humbert, who also noted the team was able to make adjustments at the plate after having played a non-conference doubleheader Thursday against the Pioneers.
In game one of the MCAC North opener, RRCC defeated Northland, 13-3, in five innings.
Deven Chandler pitched all five innings in recording the victory, allowing three earned runs on three hits with eight walks while striking out seven.
The Voyageurs weren’t charged with any fielding errors.
