Dylan Robertson scored twice and added an assist Saturday night to help lead the Fort Frances Lakers to a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at Ice for Kids Arena.
Fort Frances took a 1-0 lead after the opening period when forward Mason Meyer of International Falls put in the puck on the power play at 10:48 to score his 24th goal of the season assisted by another Falls High School graduate, Lucas DeBenedet, and Wyatt Cota.
Robertson gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes when he recorded his first goal of the night near the 7-minute mark of the second period.
Minnesota snapped the shutout 51 seconds into the third period when Matt O’Dea scored his 22nd goal of the season.
Fort Frances pulled back in front by two goals when Robertson scored again at 1:22 of the final period.
Robertson then set up Cota for the final goal of the game midway through the third period to close out the scoring.
Carter Chorney ended up with three assists for Fort Frances.
Nathan Park made 19 saves to earn the win in net for the Lakers, who fired 30 shots on former Fort Frances goalie Devin Tappenden, who recorded the loss.
The league-leading Lakers return to action on the road at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against the Dryden Ice Dogs.
The Mighty Mustangs competed Saturday in Grand Rapids at a Jaycees state-qualifying meet with four more wrestlers qualifying for the Jaycees state meet in Rapids on March 28.

On Sunday, Mann defeated 2014 Gopher National Champion Will Sather and placed second at the St. Michael “Tournament of Champions.”
This season, the Mighty Mustangs will be wrestling in meets into April, including the “Top of the Nation” tournament they will host April 12 at Falls High School.
