Four public meetings regarding the Koochiching County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
The MHMP plan details the natural hazards that face the county and identifies specific mitigation strategies and actions to reduce the impact of disasters, said a release from the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission. Meetings will be held as follows:
Wednesday
Thursday
In the fall of 2013 Koochiching County received a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to prepare an update of its multi-jurisdictional MHMP. Seven jurisdictions are part of the plan, including Koochiching County and the cities of International Falls, Rainer, Littlefork, Big Falls, Mizpah, and Northome. Staff from the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission are facilitating the planning process.
Public input is a required step in the MHMP planning process. Community members and staff from the county and participating cities are strongly encouraged to attend the scheduled public meetings. The meetings will provide local residents, businesses, agencies and organizations an opportunity to learn about the draft plan, ask questions and provide feedback on mitigation strategies and recommended actions for implementation.
