Loop graduates from College of St. Scholastica
Katie Loop graduated from The College of St. Scholastica Dec. 13 in a commencement ceremony at the Reif Gymnasium on campus.
Loop, of International Falls, graduated with a master of science degree in occupational therapy.
Area students receive BSU degrees
The following area students completed undergraduate degree requirements at Bemidji State University and graduated at the conclusion of the 2014 fall semester.
Burke Bolstad, International Falls, received a bachelor of science degree in business administration and Jennifer Horne, Littlefork, received a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
Maki receives WITC scholarship
Nick Maki, of International Falls, received a Dan Maynard Memorial Welding Scholarship from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College for the spring 2015 semester.
Maki is enrolled in the welding program.
Skurkis named to president’s list
Cheryl Skurkis, of Littlefork, was named to the 2014 fall president’s list at Riverland Community College, Austin.
To be eligible for the president’s list, students must have completed 12 credits per semester with letter grades and have earned a grade point average of 4.00 on a 4.00 scale.
Anderson named to chancellors list
Allan Anderson, International Falls, was named to the fall semester chancellors list at the University of Minnesota Crookston.
Locals named to U of M dean’s list
Area students were selected to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities dean’s list for academic success during the 2014 fall semester.
From International Falls, students include: International Falls — Johnathan Hardy, senior, College of Liberal Arts, and Matthew Paulbeck, senior, College of Liberal Arts; Littlefork — Tina Jonson, junior, College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

The second annual All School Choral Music Festival is scheduled for Wednesday at Backus Community Center. The event is made possible by a grant from The Otto Bremer Foundation and is sponsored by Citizens for Backus/AB.
Tamara Koenig, Falls High School choral director, is organizer of the event. She is assisted by music instructors Aron Bohnert, Littlefork and Stacey Ottemann, Indus.
Approximately 125 choral students from International Falls, Littlefork-Big Falls and Indus are expected to participate. The festival gives students the opportunity to rehearse with students from other schools and perform under the direction of additional music instructors.
Following rehearsals on festival day, the choirs will present a concert at 12:45 p.m. in Backus Auditorium. Individual school choirs and a massed choir will perform.
The public is welcome to attend the concert. There is no admission charge. Free-will donations will be accepted.
