RRCC work-study students learn valuable skills
  • Updated

The Federal Work-Study Program allows students to earn wages for part-time employment, which helps them finance the cost of their education.

At Rainy River Community College, students earn $9 per hour for a maximum of 10 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

Scott Riley, Rainy River Community College financial aid director, states, “The work-study program is an awesome opportunity for students. They can earn some extra spending money while gaining experience and developing relationships that will prove to be invaluable in their future.”

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid determines student eligibility. Students who qualify based on the FAFSA can apply for various positions at Rainy River Community College in areas such as registration, reception, library, maintenance, and academic departments.

According to one recent RRCC graduate, “Employment as a work-study student in the RRCC Registration Office has been an excellent opportunity for me. It gave me an opportunity to make money while getting experience for a future job. I had the chance to meet many new people and I loved the people I worked with.”

More information about the Federal Work Study Program is available on the U.S. Department of Education website, http://www.ed.gov/, or contact Scott Riley by phone at 285-2205, or email financialaid@rainyriver.edu.
