There’s still work to be done for incumbent Kevin Adee, who will continue to represent for another term the Koochiching County Board as commissioner for District 2.

Vote totals show that Adee won 457 votes to 405 votes cast for Harley Droba, who now serves on the International Falls City Council.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their support and all the support throughout the county,” Adee told The Journal Wednesday. “All the folks who helped with my campaign — everything went well.”

Adee started his campaign one month late due to health issues, but once he was well enough, he was on the campaign trail in every kind of weather, he said.

“I want to thank my opponent for the challenge and my fiancee Rose Carlson for the wonderful support,” he added, because his work isn’t done just yet.

He will continue to fight to implement an overpass and extending road that would allow residents, and emergency vehicles, access when County Highway 24 is blocked by southbound Canadian National Railway trains.

The CN trains often block the dead-end County Highway 24, also known as the Van Lynn Road. County officials have proposed construction of an overpass to carry vehicle traffic over the railroad tracks and a connector road that would allow vehicles to exit that road onto Highway 11 east of Ranier.

“It’s much needed,” Adee said. “We have more trains coming across than ever before — it needs to be done.”

During his campaign, Adee spoke with several concerned citizens who live on both sides of the railroad tracks about the project.

“People say it’s never going to happen but nobody has crystal balls,” he said.

Adee has served on the county board since 2003.

In addition Tuesday, two other commissioner districts and several county offices were uncontested on the ballot.
