Adelaida Martinez

Adelaida (Ida) Cordovez Martinez was called home to her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012.

Ida was born in Cuba on Sept. 29, 1932.

When she was 11, her and her family walked 100 miles to Havana where they boarded a plane and moved to Stockton, Calif.

She then met and married Ray Martinez in 1955.

In their life travels, they moved to International Falls, Minn., in November of 1969.

Ida very much enjoyed her family. She was one of the best cooks around and loved spending time with her animals and gardening.

Ida is survived by her husband, Ray Martinez; son, Joseph (Trena) Martinez; grandchildren, Jordin Martinez, Justin (Kate) Chezick, Danyelle (Ben) Deedrick and Brittany Martinez; great-grandchildren, Adley, Camden, Esme and Aaralynn; also many “adopted” children that also called her Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carmen Cordovez.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Green-Larsen Mortuary.
