Albert Aasen

Albert Edward Aasen, 90, of International Falls, Minn., died Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home with family by his side.

He was born April 9, 1922 at Skime, Minn.

Albert grew up in the Skime area one of nine children born to John and Josephine Aasen.

As a young man he worked for area farmers and in St. Paul.

He met and married Hazel Dahl and they bought their farm at Skime. They farmed, raised cattle, and logged in the winter.

In 1956, he moved his family to International Falls where he was employed at Boise Cascade for 28 years until retiring in 1984.

They enjoyed spending 28 years of retirement going back to the farm for the summer. They enjoyed many lawn parties, barbecues and birthday parties with relatives still living in the Roseau/Skime area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edwin, Carl, Bennie and Oscar; and sisters, Ella, Cora, Bertha and Annie.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Hazel Aasen; children, Marlys Stansbury and Larry (Dawn) Aasen; grandson, James (Brittney) Aasen; and great-granddaughter, Keirra Aasen, all of International Falls; sisters-in-law, Audrey Dahl, Helen Aasen, Joyce Aasen and Ethel (Alvin) Snare; several nieces and a nephew.

A private memorial service will be conducted with a celebration of Albert’s life later this summer at “The Farm” in Skime.
