Alice Barden

Alice Elaine Skifstrom Barden, 95, of Littlefork, Minn., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Littlefork Care Center.

Elaine was born April 24, 1917, in International Falls, Minn., to Edward and Ida Skifstrom.

Her first job was with the Forestry Service in Littlefork.

From there, she moved to Baudette, Minn., to work where she met Chester “Chet” Barden. Chester and Elaine were married Nov. 25, 1939.

During her married life, she enjoyed homemaking, sewing and quilting.

She enjoyed gardening and loved to be with her family at their cabin on their island on Rainy Lake.

She was active in the Minnesota Loon Project and active in the LCW and the Does.

A favorite pastime of hers was picking blueberries with her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Barden; parents, Edward and Ida Skifstrom; sister, Agnes Opsahl; and brothers, Ralph and Walter (Stub) Skifstrom.

Elaine is survived by her son, Robert T. Barden; daughters, Linda L. Jean and Bonnie E. (Gerald) Selberg; grandchildren, Kay Selberg and Ted Selberg; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea Elizabeth, Heather Nicole, Nicholas Andrew, Nissa Danielle and Annika Lauren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Dec. 21, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Loman, Minn.

Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Loman.
