Jeanette Olson

Alice Jeanette Olson passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nev., on Dec. 22, 2011, at the age of 99.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Petrine Hamre, husband, Arnold Olson; sister, Marie Hamre; and brother, Gustav Hamre.

She is survived by her daughters, Arlene (Ed) Petschl and Karin (Russ) Treat; five grandchildren, Stephanie Treat (Greg Talmo), Eddie (Michele) Petschl, Erika (Corey) Anderson, Jeff (Traci) Petschl and Misha Treat; and five great-grandchildren.

Alice was a truly amazing woman and will be missed so much by her family and friends.

Alice left her home in Waukauna at the age of 13 and lived in a boarding house in Littlefork to attend high school. After graduating from high school she worked in the restaurant business — she met the love of her life, Arnold Olson, and they married at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa. They spent most of their married life out West in Oregon, California and Nevada.

After Arnold’s death Alice moved back to Littlefork to raise her two daughters.

Alice worked at the Littlefork Hospital and Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. Later on she took a test and became a licensed practical nurse. Alice loved working at the hospital and was there until it closed.

Alice lived independently until the last two years of her life which were spent at The Chateau and finally with her daughter, Arlene, in Las Vegas, so she could enjoy the weather and outdoors year-round.

She truly loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, picking wild berries and just enjoying the scenery.

She was very active until the last two weeks of her life — enjoying all that Las Vegas has to offer including the famous Las Vegas Strip and the mountains.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Littlefork Lutheran Church.

Memorials are preferred to the Littlefork Lutheran Church or The Chateau Assisted Living Facility.
