It is with great sorrow that we wish to share the passing of Anita (Nita) Lea Taylor, nee Darval, on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, after a brave and inspiring battle against numerous strokes and health issues.
Anita was born May 22, 1931, in International Falls, Minn.
She attended school in International Falls and graduated from Falls High.
Her father, Mederic Darval, owned and operated the D & H Service Station where she worked as a bookkeeper for a number of years. She continued to work the rest of her life as a bookkeeper for her husband’s electrical business as well as for her son’s law office.
Anita wed Dalton Lyle Taylor in 1952, recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
They had one son, Donald Andrew Taylor, also of Fort Frances, Ontario.
Anita was predeceased by her parents, Mederic and Charlotte Darval; brothers, Gene Darval and Wayne Darval; and sister-in-law, Marlene Danby.
Anita is survived by her husband Dalton, son Donald and daughter-in-law Dawnn and grandson Donovan, all of Fort Frances, Ontario; brother Ernest Darval of Fergus Falls, Minn., sister-in-law Sharon DeBenedet and husband Joe; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Always an avid bird watcher and gardener, she loved growing things and going to the family cabin to enjoy nature. Hummingbirds were her favorite lake residents and many feeders were filled and hung around the cabin just waiting for them to visit.
Most important though to Nita was her family. She devoted her life to her loving husband Dalton and shared many years working for their business, Taylor Electric, and many a weekend at the cabin making perfect pancakes, playing cribbage and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Along with Dalton, her great joy in life was her son, Donald Andrew Taylor, and her grandson, Donovan Taylor. She was so proud of their accomplishments and made sure anyone that would listen knew how much they meant to her. In her words, “the best lawyer in town” and “the best looking grandson in the world.” A more unconditional love between them could never be found.
Anita will also be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law Dawnn Marrie who adored her strong spirit, giving nature and love of life along with Nita’s fuzzy buddy “Wrangler.” Weekends at Gramma’s were amazing days.
In accordance with Anita’s wishes, cremation will take place.
A celebration of her life will take place with internment in the International Falls cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
