Volunteers were honored at an appreciation luncheon at Backus Community Center May 4. Pictured are some of the volunteers who attended. Ward Merrill, executive director of Citizens for Backus/AB, thanked those attending, and remarked that the Backus complex is dependent on the many hours of help and assistance provided by these volunteers. He referenced the dollar amount (over $25,000 in the past year) that is realized by the work of these community members who so willingly give of their time to help support the operation of the facility. Door prize winners were Lou Cayou, Joan Benedix, Mary Hilke, Barbara Eckels, Bob Hilke, Helen Weum, Gordon Ettestad and Larry Beach. Anyone interested in offering volunteer time is asked to call the Backus office at 285-7225. Volunteers pictured, left to right, include Marie Zaren, Mona Johnson, Joan Benedix, Shar Schaak and Marcia Bringedahl.
