Brenda Joy Bowman passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Mesa, Ariz., after a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer.
Brenda was born March 23, 1957, to Harold and Barbra Robb in Roseau, Minn. She spent her childhood in Roseau, Williams and International Falls, Minn.
She attended Falls High School and went on to graduate from Rainy River Community College in International Falls from the licensed practical nursing program. She later became a registered nurse.
She lived the latter part of her life in Mesa, where she worked at several area hospitals and provided private home nursing as well as owning and operating a private adult care facility in Apache Junction, Ariz.
Brenda was a member of First Baptist Church, International Falls, and attended the First Baptist Church in Mesa.
Brenda is survived by her son, Derek Hill of Mesa; granddaughter, Hayden Hill of Mesa; sister, Roxanne Smith (Allen) of Devlin, Ontario, Canada; sister, Pam Solo (Greg) of International Falls; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephew; as well as several aunts and uncles.
Brenda was preceded in death by both her parents, Harold and Barbra Robb; and one sister, Debra Sjaaheim.
Brenda was a wonderful cook who loved to host holiday feasts for family and friends fortunate enough to attend. She was a caring and generous person who always thought of others first. She loved her family, friends, and her pet Papillon, “Sassy.” She will be remembered for her bubbly personality and her positive, resilient attitude. We will all miss her very much.
Funeral services will be conducted in early November at Helgeson’s Funeral Home, Roseau. Please contact 218-463-1211 for specific time and date.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Countryside RV Resort Banquet Room in Arizona.
