Donn Bruess

Donn C. Bruess, 78, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with Monsignor Eugene Lozinski celebrating the Mass.

Burial will be at a later date at Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, North Chapel, New Ulm.

A Masonic service will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donn is survived by his wife, Audrey Bruess of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Sandy Bruess of Sleepy Eye; sons and daughters-in-law, William “ Bill” and Mary Bruess of Minneapolis and Steve and JoDean Bruess of International Falls; grandchildren, Tara, Tyler, Trevor (fiancée Gabrielle), Talia, Kayla, Alex, Morgan, Rae, Ariel and Taylor; and a great-grandson, Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Margaret Bruess, on Feb. 20, 1999.

Donn Clem Bruess was born May 31, 1934, in Sleepy Eye to Clem and Viola (Remmele) Bruess.

On Aug. 3, 1957, he was united in marriage to Margaret Klein at Union Congregational Church in Sleepy Eye.

On Sept. 18, 2001, he married Audrey Fischer in Sleepy Eye.

Donn farmed the family farm in Home Township, Brown County all his life.

He also had been a salesman for Miller-Sellner Implement in Sleepy Eye from 1964 to 2005.

Donn enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, watching the Vikings, having dogs as pets, being an assistant Boy Scout leader for Troop 100 in Sleepy Eye, spending time with his grandchildren, and going to his coffee club every day.

Donn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, The Charity Lodge 98, Zuhrah Shrine, Eastern Star, Boy Scouts of America, and the Sleepy Eye Coffee Club.
