Elora Kjellgren

 

Elora Sophia Kjellgren, 94, of International Falls, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls.

Elora was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Canada.

She grew up in Fort Frances, Ontario, and graduated from Fort Frances High School.

The former Elora Steenerson married Lennart Kjellgren on Aug. 22, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church. After she was married, she moved to International Falls, where she had resided since.

She became a United States citizen on Dec. 2, 1941.

Elora made grandfather clocks in the Clock Works class and worked on the clock that was taken to Washington D.C.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steener and Harriat Steenerson; husband, Lennart Kjellgren; and brother, Orville Steenerson.

Elora is survived by her son, Gene (Pat) Kjellgren of International Falls; daughter, Carla (Ron) Lehrke of Lino Lakes, Minn.; five grandchildren, Theresa Kjellgren, Steven Kjellgren, Daniel Kjellgren, Chad Lehrke and Lisa Lehrke-Stipe; nine great-grandchildren, Mathew, Bethany, Grace, Torey, Joe, Abbey, Erik, Annika and Maren; and one brother, Lorne (Mildred) Steenerson of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Zion Lutheran Church, International Falls.

Interment will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars section of Forest Hill Cemetery.  

Memorials in memory of Elora may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Good Samaritan Society-International Falls, or the donor’s choice.
