Emil 'Bob' Strand

Emil Robert “Bob” Strand Sr., 79, of International Falls, Minn., passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at his home.

Emil was born Sept. 23, 1933, in Fort Frances, Ontario, where he was raised.

He married Anna Zigler in 1966 in Sisseton, S.D.

In 1969 he moved to International Falls where he lived since.

Before retiring, Emil was an electrician.

He enjoyed the outdoors, loved his fishing on Rainy Lake, hunting, camping, and traveling.

He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Virginia, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Gertrude Strand; brother, Arthur Strand; and two step sons, Donald and Timothy Nass.

Emil is survived by his wife, Anna Strand; children, Paul (Judy) of Minneapolis, Minn., Emil Jr. and James (Tammie), all of International Falls, Cheryl (Randy) of Grand Rapids, Minn., Robert Strand, Susan, Carol, Shelly, and Lisa, all of England; stepchildren, Arnold (Barb) Nass, Debra (Ted) Wolden, and Deann (Roger) Lehman, all of International Falls, and Thomas (Chris) Nass of Missouri; stepdaughter-in-law, Laurie Nass of Bagley, Minn.; brother, John R. (Tracey) Strand Jr. of Arizona; sister, Shirley (Gerald) Nixon of Fort Frances, Ontario; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no services held at his request.
