Eugene Gordon Leerssen, 85, of International Falls, Minn., died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his home.
Eugene was born March 12, 1927 in Loman, Minn.
He graduated from Indus High School in 1945.
He enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II.
Eugene married Rose Clement on Nov. 12, 1949, in Loman.
He worked at Boise Cascade in the finishing and shipping department.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and camping.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lydia; brothers, Kenneth, Ralph and Gerald; and sisters, Joyce and Karen.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Rose Leerssen of International Falls; sons, Randy (Janice) and Richard (Robbie), both of International Falls, Kevin (Jan) of Littlefork, Minn., Ken (Amber) of International Falls, and Douglas (Mary) Leerssen of Hibbing, Minn.; daughter, Audrey (Dave) Winger of International Falls; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly (John) Beck of International Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service Saturday, July 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Loman.
Memorials are preferred to the North Star Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church in memory of Eugene.
