Lifelong resident of International Falls, Evelyn (Ruby) Roche passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer.
Evelyn was born Jan. 8, 1929, to parents Sidney and Ann Ruby at the Northern Minnesota Hospital, International Falls, and was a graduate of Falls High School in the Class of 1946.
She married Kevin Roche shortly after high school and raised three children in International Falls, who in turn raised her grandchildren here also.
Evelyn was employed many years as a sales clerk with Montgomery Ward’s Catalogue Store, Boise Woodlands Department, and many offices in the Koochiching County Courthouse before retirement.
Evelyn enjoyed her home and yard and was very accomplished in hand work, cross stitch, embroidering, and beautiful patterned knitting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Ann Ruby; husband, Kevin Roche; brother, Laurence Ruby; sister-in-law, Barbara Ruby; and son-in-law, Mike Pullar.
Evelyn is survived by three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Her daughter Kathleen Byman and grandchildren Kally and Lucas Byman of St. Cloud, Minn.; Erin (Dean) Heinen and great-grandchildren Gabriella and Lilliana Heinen of Baudette, Minn.; daughter, Shannon Roche of International Falls and grandchildren Mitch (Tina) Pullar of International Falls and Dana (Jamie) Skime, and great-grandchildren Samantha and Chris of Skime, Minn.; son, Tom, caregiver and best friend, of International Falls; sister, Nancy (Terry) Carew of International Falls; niece, Kimberlee (Bud) Carew Mead of Carmel, Ind., and nephew Ken Carew of International Falls.
The family would prefer memorials in lieu of flowers.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Green-Larsen Mortuary. Pastor Ted Clarke of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Interment will follow at a later date.
