The Falls High School swimming pool is being prepared to reopen next month after undergoing a deepening project budgeted at $198,000. Falls Community Education Director Rachel Amdahl said the pool is scheduled to reopen July 9 with swimming lessons. The pool has been deepened to 5 feet on the end where the starting blocks are located to comply with a rule implemented by the National Federation of State High School Associations that calls for a minimum depth of 4 feet to be able to use starting blocks. The FHS swimming pool was only 3 1/2 feet deep before the renovation work began after the boys swimming and diving season concluded for 2011-12.
