George House

George C. House, 79, of Ray, Minn., died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Essentia Health, Duluth, Minn.

George was born Oct. 19, 1932, in St. Paul, Minn.

He and his family moved to Ray in 1943.

He served in the United States Navy and returned to live in Ray after the Navy.

He married Dorothy Kleiner in 1978 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was a farmer, logger and trapper, enjoyed hunting, and was the “King of Blueberry Picking.”

George attended Northwoods Bible Church in Ray.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret House; and sister, Irene Lucca.

George is survived by his wife, Dorothy House of Ray, Minn.; sons, Greg (Sharine) House of Ray, Bob (Wendy) House of Florida, Frank (Eileen) House of Ray, and Gus (Nina) Grantham of Florida; daughters, Bonnie (Wilmer) Funk of Landmark, Manitoba, Rita (Justin) Pettit of Cokato, Minn., and Marlene (Grant) Stephens of Alaska; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Louise (Jim) Bartkowski of International Falls, Minn.; brother-in-law, Livio Lucca of International Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, at Northwoods Bible Church, Ray, with flag presentation.

Interment will be at Ray Cemetery.

The family would prefer memorials in his memory.
