Gerald Myron “Jerry” Ness, 67, of International Falls, Minn., died Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 2012, at his home.
Jerry was born March 20, 1945, in International Falls. He grew up in International Falls and graduated from Falls High School in 1964.
He served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968.
He lived in California and Montana, and returned to the Falls in 1976.
Jerry married Wendy Sandstrom on Sept. 22, 2007, in International Falls.
He drove for Nelson Transport, was a musician and played music with Pat Porter at the Border Bar, and across the Midwest and Canada.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, building things, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Myron “Bud” Ness; and an infant sister.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Wendy Ness of International Falls; his mother, Darlene Andersen of International Falls; son, Sam; daughter, Lisa; four step sons, Ralph (Danielle), Joshua, Nathaniel and Andrew Sobkowicz, all of International Falls; two step daughters, Becky Mainville and Tanya (Mark) Wilson, both of Fort Frances, Ontario; 10 grandchildren: Hailey Sobkowicz, Michael Sobkowicz, Logan Phillips, Diane LaVoy, Alaina Gates, Bailey Fish, Cole Fish, Dani May Mainville, Chase Flinders and Josie Wilson; and sister, Diane (Martin) Schell of International Falls.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Green-Larsen Mortuary, with full military rites.
