Gerald Lindmark

Gerald Lindmark, age 71, of International Falls and Leonard, Minn., passed away Monday Jan. 21, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Roseville, Minn.

Gerald was battling a number of medical problems and appreciated the great assistance of the Sunrise Staff and Hospice.

He was born Feb. 18, 1941, on a farm in Sinclair Township near Leonard.

He attended grade school at rural Birchmound School and high school in Clearbrook, where he graduated in 1959.

Following graduation from high school, Gerald worked on the family farm with his father and also for a construction firm in the Twin Cities until he joined The First Infantry Division of the United States Army.

He served in Viet Nam from 1965 until January 1966. In Viet Nam he served as a cook in a medical field unit (a MASH-type unit).

After his military service he was employed by Boise Cascade Corporation in International Falls for 37 years, retiring in 2003.

Following this he maintained his passion for farming on the home place and collecting old tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Aaste Lindmark; and brother, Richard.

He is survived by brother, Ronald (Lynette) of Arden Hills, Minn., and five nieces and nephews: Gary (Jackie) of Glendale, Ariz., Holly and Steven of International Falls and Eric (Julie) and Kirstin (Neil) of Shoreview, Minn.

Plans are for a memorial service in the spring. More than likely it will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Leonard with interment in the Sinclair Township Cemetery.
