Growing up on Rainy

Byrne Johnson recently spoke to the Family and Consumer Science classes at Falls High School, taught by Marva Fairchild. He shared with the students what it was like to grow up on an island on Rainy Lake, when he was their age. Many students reported having wonderful experiences on Rainy Lake, but none live on an island year-round. Especially interesting to the students was the video from Johnson’s family movies showing the family working together; putting up ice, hauling water, and cutting wood, as well as fun times skiing, snowshoeing, and tobogganing. Johnson has published his father, Don Johnson’s journals, which can be regularly read in The Journal. In the photo, Johnson is pictured pointing out details of a Rainy Lake chart.
