Harold Ingnor Miller, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and World War II veteran, passed away at Northome Healthcare Center, Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
The oldest of four siblings, Harold was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Sturgeon River Township (Big Falls), Minn.
Harold joined the Local 751 Aeronautical Mechanics Union Aug. 17, 1942, working for Boeing before enlisting in the Army on Dec. 9, 1942, and served as a Rifleman 745 Aerial Belly Gunner in World War II, surviving 35 missions over Europe.
His decorations included a European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, a Good Conduct Ribbon, Aviation Badge and one Silver Campaign Star.
Harold was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in September 1945.
Harold was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Harold married Rose Nordstrand on June 22, 1949, in International Falls, and they moved to Big Falls in 1965. Harold and Rose had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2009 before Rose passed away in January 2010.
Harold was a master masonry, logger, welder and basically a jack of all trades and master of them all.
He loved his friends and family, home in the woods, hunting, fishing, his garden and flowers.
One would have a hard time finding another person more honest, kind, intelligent, hard working and generous.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris Miller and Julia (Skhal) Miller-Tofte; brother, Roy Miller; and sister, Joanne Tofte of International Falls, Minn.
He is survived by sons, Ronald (Deb) Miller of Anoka, Minn., and Michael (Susie) Miller of East Bethel, Minn.; daughters, Terri (Jim) Graham of Nodine, Minn., and Lori (Dave) Faber of Pine City, Minn.; grandchildren — Penny, Tammy, and Melissa Miller of Anoka, Minn., Amanda (Jose) Pelaez and Cory (Mindy) Graham of Winona, Minn., Holly and Ashley Faber of Pine City, Minn., and Chantil Graham of International Falls, Minn.; great-grandchildren — Alex and Veronica Miller, Erika Miller and Adrian Robbinson, Riley and Adelyn Graham, Sebastian Pelaez, Bella Deose, and Hailee and Austin Schaaf; sister, Carol (Ray) Tucker of Fort Frances, Ontario; brother, Earl (Barb) Miller of International Falls, Minn.; sister-in-law, Carol Miller of International Falls, Minn.; beloved cousins, Gayle and Richard Ferguson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the River of God Church, Big Falls.
Luncheon will be served immediately following the service.
