Helen K. Holmquist Olson, age 91, of Penn Township, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
Helen was born Oct. 18, 1920, on her parents’ farm homestead near Cando, N.D.
She was raised on the farm through high school.
After high school, she married Clarence G. Olson on Oct. 1, 1939.
They moved to Fulda, Minn., and several years later moved to International Falls, Minn., to be near her parents.
While living in International Falls, she was a dedicated employee with Piggly Wiggly for many years.
She moved to Pennsylvania in the early 2000s to be near her son and grandchildren after the death of her husband in October 1999.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Olson (Maria) of Irwin; grandchildren, Bart R. Olson (Karen) and Debra E. Pecora (Michael); great-grandchildren, Michael (Brianna), David and Matthew Olson, and James, Samuel, Nicholas and Emily Byron; and one great-great granddaughter,, Lauren Olson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn., next to her late husband. Please arrive at 1 at the cemetery entrance for the services.
