Hennes Elvin Johnson, 93, of International Falls, Minn., ended life’s journey on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Rainy Lake Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Hennes was born to Christina and Albert Johnson on May 3, 1919, in Battle Lake, Minn.
He served overseas in World War II, and was honorably discharged in September 1945.
He married Irene M. Mann on June 2, 1946.
They moved to International Falls in 1948 where Hennes was employed by M&O Paper Company (Boise) for 27 years until retiring due to a work-related disability.
Hennes was an avid sportsman and fisherman and enjoyed all spectator sports.
He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He and his wife, Irene, have resided at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls for the past three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christina and Albert Johnson; brothers, Ragner, Ernest, Clarence and Loren; sisters, Agnes, Alice and Hazel; and son-in-law, Gerald Imhof.
Hennes is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene Johnson of International Falls; daughters, Karen (Marvin) Dinville of Clear Lake, Minn., and Sonja Imhof of Littlefork, Minn.; son, Donald (Sue) Johnson of International Falls; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristi, Patrick, Amber, Heather, Jarrod, Megan, Molly and Melissa; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Zion Lutheran Church.
