Henry Haugland

Henry Martin Haugland passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Rogers, Minn.

He was born July 2, 1923, to Ingvald and Marie Haugland in International Falls, Minn.

Henry and Avis Panula were married May 8, 1948.

Henry served as a mess sergeant in the Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a tin smith at Boise for 40 years.

He served on the Board of Education in International Falls for 21 years.

During his retirement he was a custodian at Zion Lutheran Church for 14 years.

He was also active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Sons of Norway and Citizens for Backus.

Henry was preceded in death by Avis, his wife of 64 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Gretchen Plantenberg and Marlys Simonson, as well as four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

His family and friends will celebrate his life at a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Zion Lutheran Church.
