Irene Ethel Eisenzoph passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society-International Falls. She was 81 years of age.

Irene was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Fort Frances, Ontario.

She grew up in Fort Frances and graduated from Fort Frances High School and moved to International Falls in 1955, where she had lived since.

She was a hockey fan all of her life, and loved watching her grandchildren play.

She enjoyed wood-crafting, gardening, going to rummage sales, camping, spending time at the lake, and playing cards.

She was a member of the Ladies Elks and she also volunteered at the International Falls Bass Tournament.

Irene will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludger Guerrette and Glorianna Johnson; one brother, Ronald Derendorf; and two sisters, Beatrice Matthews and Betty Sivonen.

Irene is survived by one sister, Viola Derendorf of Fort Frances, Ontario; four daughters, Debra (Kevin) Gradishar of Aurora, Minn., Sue (Mark) Betterman of Superior, Wis., Heidi Hilfer (Craig Wood) of International Falls, and Holly Maki of Hibbing, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Jess Johnston, Amanda Heimbach, Dylan Hall, Allen Mann, Jody Mann, Joshua Mann, Brooke Mann, Bradley Eisenzoph, Kayely Wallen, Tyler Maki, Jared Betterman and Rhianon Betterman; and three great-grandchildren, Angela Johnston, Jeremy Johnston and Libby Mann.

A memorial gathering will be conducted from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Green-Larsen Mortuary.
